Where art and nature meet
Six years after the introduction of the beloved 'Kirazuri' (or "sparkling painting") dialed US-exclusives, Grand Seiko is back with a new 44GS US Exclusive capsule, each retaining those coveted shimmering dials dials inspired by traditional ukiyo-e woodblock prints, and the movements of the sun over the Lake Suwa studio where every Grand Seiko watch is meticulously crafted.
Cast in stainless steel, this reference is built around Grand Seiko's legendary 44GS case architecture. Originally released in 1967, the 44GS is the watch that established the Grand Seiko Style, the design grammar using bold, flat, Zaratsu-polished surfaces, which create an interplay of light and shadow that is the hallmark of Grand Seiko while also perfectly complementing the kirazuri dial, which inspired here by the cool 'blue hour' colors after sunset on Lake Suwa. It is finished on a stainless steel bracelet.
Powering this watch is Grand Seiko's own Spring Drive Caliber 9R65 which uses sophisticated modern technology coupled with the skilled hand of a master craftsman for the finest adjustments and highest precision possible of ±15 seconds per month (approximately ±1 second per day). The seconds hand displays the time with a characteristic glide motion and quiet precision that have distinguished all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches for the past 20 years.
